Fortnite blames UK V-Bucks price hike on inflation

Epic Games has increased the cost of Fortnite’s V-Bucks virtual currency for UK users, citing ”economic factors like inflation and currency fluctuations.”
Breaking the news to Fortnite players via a blog post, Epic detailed the exact pricing changes that’ll affect players in the UK, Mexico and Canada.

So if you want to buy the seasonal battle pass you’re spending an extra 50p. The battle pass costs 1000 V-Bucks, which has increased from £6.49 to £6.99.
And that increase carries through into the bigger V-Buck bundles. The price of 2800 V-Bucks has increased from £15.99 to £17.49 and 13,500 V-Bucks will set you back £69.99, up from £63.99.

It’s the first time Fortnite has adjusted its V-Bucks prices since 2021, and follows the Bank of England’s 0.5% interest rate increase in June. The cost of living crisis rolls on, then, and like it wasn’t depressing enough to see a barista hand you a terminal with £12.00 on its display after you order a macchiato, it’s seeping into our virtual lives too. At this rate we’ll be wandering around Fortnite in Aura skins like absolute plebs. For shame.
